4K on a 27-inch monitor is worth it for sharper text and images, not for more workspace. In this calculation, with your eyes 54 cm to 80 cm from a 27-inch screen, one 4K pixel is smaller than the angle the eye can resolve (1 arcminute). One 1440p pixel is 1 arcminute or larger. The ends of that range are borderline. Worked out from official documents checked in October 2026.
Among models on sale from Wacom, XPPen and HUION, choose a 13.3–14-inch display for A5 at actual size, and a 21.5–23.8-inch one for A4. Worked out from official specs as of October 2026.
Pick a drawing monitor by where your art ends up. By this guide's rule, choose sRGB 99%+ for posting online, Adobe RGB 99%+ for print, and DCI-P3 90%+ for cinema video. Worked out from official specs and standard primaries as of October 2026.
Pick a monitor size by how far your eyes are from the screen. In this calculation, a 24-inch meets the target from 50 cm eye-to-screen, a 27-inch from 56.73 cm, and a 32-inch from 66.22 cm. Right at those distances it is borderline. Worked out from official specs as of October 2026.
By this article's unofficial targets, writing needs 8 GB RAM and a 256 GB SSD; photo editing, 16 GB RAM (borderline), 512 GB SSD and an AVX2 or Arm CPU. Per Adobe's Windows requirements, photo editing needs at least 2 GB of GPU memory on Intel or AMD, and 4 GB on Arm for Photoshop. Worked out from Microsoft's and Adobe's official requirements as of October 2026.
